A state Senate committee heard more than three hours of impassioned testimony Tuesday on a bill that would cut funding for local sheriff’s offices if those sheriffs don’t assist federal immigration enforcement.

Tuesday’s indictment means members of that grand jury concluded there was enough evidence to file charges against Judge Hannah Dugan.

Bail has been set for Jeffrey Rupnow at $20,000 cash after he was charged criminally in connection with the shooting carried out by his daughter at Madison’s Abundant Life Christian School.

Madison police have previously said that the teenage shooter brought two handguns to Abundant Life Christian School where she was a student, before using one of those guns to open fire on a study hall.

Madison Police and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating after 49-year-old Jeffrey Endres was found dead in the Dane County Jail Tuesday. Endres was facing in life in prison after prosecutors say he intentionally drove his SUV into his Cottage Grove neighbors.

Bipartisan supporters says the changes will help alleviate a shortage of medical providers, especially in rural areas.

The suit is one of several pending federal complaints over recent deaths at Wisconsin’s maximum-security Waupun Correctional Institution.
